TheHoneyDo-Handyman Hotel Ivy Art

Art Intallation At Hotel Ivy.

Hanging art at Hotel Ivy! I spent two days this week hanging art at a Hotel Ivy residence. A couple pieces were a challenge. One was a 4x8 foot cement on plywood painting. It weighed about 150lbs!

We used a French cleat to hang it with, which is basically a one by four with a 45° angle on the top mounted to the wall and another one with the 45° angle going the opposite direction on the bottom of the board mounted on the back of the painting.

Another challenge was a large and heavy mirror. This mirror and the cement painting were both mounted to a wall that had 2 layers of 5/8" drywall, some wood studs and a metal stud. Reading a stud through two layers of drywall is difficult. The mirror was hung with a z-bar. We also hung several smaller art pieces and mirrors.
